Established in 1989, the Colorado Solar and Storage Association (COSSA) is the award-winning nonprofit association leading Colorado’s solar and storage industries. Our mission is to expand solar and storage markets and to generate jobs and prosperity for the people of Colorado. Together with hundreds of solar and storage business members we work to advance clean energy policies, remove market barriers, highlight emerging trends, and increase solar and storage education.

This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

  • A knowledge of, or desire to quickly learn, regulatory policy details related to solar and energy storage in Colorado.

Position Responsibilities

Advocacy

  • Represent COSSA in proceedings at the Colorado Public Utilities Commission
    • Compose filings
    • Meet with Commission staff
    • Attend workshops and stakeholder groups
    • Work closely with general counsel
  • Interact with COSSA members
    • Prepare agendas for and staff policy committees
    • Summarize PUC/utility filings and outline decision points and next steps
    • Research market opportunities
    • Facilitate internal COSSA decision making
    • Explain details of programs and proceedings to member companies
    • Respond to member requests for information and policy explanations
    • Produce factsheets and website updates
    • Meet with members to discuss policy needs and impact

Organizational Development

  • Work with membership staff to recruit member companies
  • Attend team meetings, board meetings, and strategy development retreats
  • Develop monthly policy update newsletters and memos to membership and the Board

Event Planning and Organization

  • In conjunction with the events committee, identify and plan the policy panels for COSSA’s annual three-day conference
  • Identify and confirm speakers; run pre-conference prep calls to prepare speakers for panels
  • Staff the policy rooms during the conference
  • Support membership director and communications director with other COSSA membership events such as one-day webinars, annual summer golf outing, and solar outreach events.

Compensation Package: This will be a salaried position of $90,000 annually. The position also includes health insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off. Additional continuing education and conference funds will also be available.

Commitment: Position is available immediately. A minimum two-year commitment is requested.

Educational and Experience Requirements: An advanced degree in public policy, regulatory affairs or similar

Preferred Experience (Not Required):

  • Direct Colorado PUC experience is considered a plus but not a prerequisite, as is direct experience within the solar industry.
