Logan Simpson has an immediate opening for a regular full-time Environmental Planner to work a hybrid schedule based in our Fort Collins, Colorado or Salt Lake City, Utah offices.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with planning and design of multi-disciplinary projects such as parks, recreation, open space, trails, resource management plans, NEPA, and renewable energy projects for federal, state, and local land managers and communities throughout Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, Montana, Utah, New Mexico, and other western states.
  • Work will include researching, writing, and presenting innovative and equitable solutions; coordinating project management activities; supporting public involvement activities developing action plans and permit application sections; quality control and performing other duties as required.
  • Occasional out-of-state travel to visit project sites, attend agency and client meetings, and attend public outreach events should be anticipated.

Position Requires:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Planning, Anthropology, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, GIS, Ecology, or closely related field.
  • One to five years of experience in environmental planning and strong writing skills focused on outdoor recreation, conservation, land use permitting, public land management, renewables, or NEPA.
  • Commitment to professional excellence, stewardship, teamwork, creativity, integrity and empowerment
  • One year minimum experience using Adobe Creative Cloud and Esri’s ArcGIS suite of products, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online (Web AppBuilder, Story Maps, Dashboards, ArcGIS Hub), and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and quality control a must!
  • Ability to synthesize and present complex ideas through text and graphics.
  • Ability to multitask and be able to adjust to daily changes in priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Desire to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Self-starters with an eye for detail, a dedication to accuracy, and a passion for incorporating best practices and more importantly identifying and testing new planning ideas, practices, and technologies, are encouraged to apply.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will also demonstrate expertise in some of the following areas: graphic design, public involvement, Spanish fluency, renewable energy permitting, landscape architecture, and/or parks, trail, and open space master plans.

Compensation:

This is a full-time position paid on a salaried basis between $45,760 to $70,720 annually, depending on experience and education.
