The Sales & Marketing Director will be responsible for the strategy and execution of SunShare’s residential (including low-income) and commercial subscriber acquisition pipeline. The primary objective of this role will be to deliver high-quality, low-cost community solar subscribers, through management of internal and external teams and partners. The Sales & Marketing Director will oversee SunShare’s inside and outside sales teams, including both internal staff and independent contractors. This role will also be responsible for creating and executing marketing campaigns to deliver a lead pipeline to the sales teams, and for hiring and managing vendors to facilitate sales and marketing campaigns.

The Sales & Marketing Director will: 

  • Manage the subscriber acquisition and management business line as a standalone entity
  • Plan, develop, and implement marketing strategy for overall growth of customer platform, including through B2C, B2B, and project development brand and advertising campaigns
  • Manage, recruit, and train SunShare’s sales teams
  • Develop objectives, KPIs and benchmarks for performance; measure and optimize sales and marketing plans based on performance; develop and manage a budget
  • Work directly with your sales team to plan, implement, and optimize sales and marketing objectives
  • Analyze existing subscriber communications and identify key opportunities to improve performance
  • Deliver high-quality residential sales leads through online and offline marketing and advertising programs
  • Create or oversee all marketing collateral, including marcom, subscriber communications, development team outreach
  • Approve press releases and coordinate press outreach
  • Identify and create strategic partnerships for both marketing and sales opportunities
  • Manage content strategy and execution


  • Five to seven years sales and marketing experience, with a minimum of one to two years in a manager role
  • One to two years’ experience using WordPress
  • Experience in the renewable energy field required
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills 
  • Ability to lead both internal and external teams to drive results

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and customize marketing programs for a variety of target audiences including prospective residential and commercial subscribers; landowners and potential development partners; strategic partners; sales teams; and investors
