McKinstry is looking to add a Project Developer to our national reaching and quickly growing renewable energy division. The ideal fit for this position will be someone who has project development experience in the commercial and industrial (C&I) market vertical with a focus on solar PV and battery energy storage technologies. This position will be responsible for driving new business and the project development process for Renewable Energy projects across the US from initial concept through client contract. In this position, you will work closely with internal teams as well as external parties to identify, pursue, and develop renewable energy projects. This position will play a key role in developing solar and storage projects that are integrated into larger energy projects that involve efficiency upgrades, lighting, controls optimization, active energy management, and resiliency solutions.

Project Development

As a Project Developer, you will provide subject matter expertise for rooftop, canopy, and ground-mounted Solar PV (Photovoltaic) solutions as well as Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) technologies for demand reduction and resiliency. You will be tasked with packaging solar and storage solutions into larger, more comprehensive energy projects. You will be responsible for driving, contributing writing, and supporting proposals to successfully position renewables to clients. To be successful in this position, you must have a solid understanding of system interconnection, utility metering policy, project development challenges, and strategies for de-risking renewable energy projects.

Business Development:

As a Project Developer, you will be focusing on technologies that include solar, battery energy storage, and microgrids. This position will require you to support the generation of new business through existing and new channel accounts in both the public and private sector, and work with internal business segments to identify and support renewable energy opportunities that deepen our relationship with strategic clients. Ideally, you are knowledgeable in Renewable Energy State, City, County, Utility, Federal, and other policies affecting Renewable offerings in relevant geographic area(s).

What we would like to see from you:

  • 5+ Years of experience in solar, energy storage, or other renewable energy industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, economics, or equivalent business experience required
  • Land acquisition, land development, utility interconnection experience
  • NABCEP, CEM, LEED, CPM, Six Sigma, other certifications a plus
  • Knowledge of renewable energy financing arrangements including PPAs, tax-exempt leases, loans, proformas, and utility incentive programs
  • Working knowledge of financial modeling
  • Basic industry technical knowledge including use of Helioscope, Energy Toolbase, aerial site assessment, and utility bill analysis
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is a plus
