GRID Alternatives Colorado is seeking a full-time, experienced Solar Installation Supervisor to oversee all aspects of PV installations for low-income families in Colorado. This position will be responsible for leading commercial scale projects as well as supporting residential and multi-family rooftop installations throughout the State of Colorado.

GRID Alternatives is the country’s largest nonprofit solar installer. GRID is an entrepreneurial, high-growth non-profit organization that provides renewable energy and energy efficiency services to low-income families. Through its flagship Solar Affordable Housing Program, GRID trains and leads teams of volunteers and job trainees to install solar electric systems for low-income families and affordable housing providers, providing long-term savings for the people who need them the most. In turn, low-income families are able to use their long-term savings to pay for basic expenses, and expand their economic opportunity by employing the skills and training they gained through GRID’s workforce development programs, in the growing field of solar installation. GRID’s vision is a successful transition to clean, renewable energy that includes everyone. Based in Oakland, California, GRID has ten regional offices and affiliates serving all of California, Colorado, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Washington D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware; GRID also has staff on the ground in Nicaragua. GRID has a dedicated staff of 330 and growing!
About the Regional Office:
GRID Alternatives Colorado (www.gridalternatives.org/colorado) is a non-profit organization that makes renewable energy technology and job training accessible to low-income communities. We bring together community partners, volunteers and job trainees to implement solar power and energy efficiency for low-income families, providing energy cost savings, valuable hands-on experience, and a source of clean, local energy that benefits us all.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Lead installations of solar electric systems with crews of volunteers and/or job trainees
• Conduct site evaluations to screen potential sites for solar access plus safety and engineering issues
• Design and engineer PV Arrays, ranging from 1kW rooftop arrays to 500kW commercial arrays
• Put together permit packages, utility interconnection agreements, and assist with rebate paperwork
• Responsible for all technical and safety aspects of PV installations
• Train and mentor volunteers, job trainees and staff as assigned in solar installation and other construction related activities
• Ensure that all solar installations are installed according to GRID Alternatives safety and quality standards
• Assist in warehouse and tool organization, fleet maintenance, construction logistics and systems implementation.
• Other job duties include equipment purchasing, hardware store runs, equipment unloading and loading, answering homeowner and volunteer questions, talking to media and generally participating in activities necessary to make solar happen for low-income families
Position Requirements:
• NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification
• Experience in PV system installation, design, and troubleshooting
• Experience leading a crew in PV installation
• Experience with both commercial and residential scale PV systems
• Extensive travel is required, including 1 week to one month work assignments throughout the State of Colorado
• Posses or willingness to obtain Colorado Electrical Licensure
• Excellent communication skills (ability to work with volunteers and clients, ability to represent GRID Alternatives positively)
• Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and work effectively andrespectfully within diverse teams
• Flexibility and willingness to embrace change, go the extra mile, and bring ideas and
energy to rapidly growing organization
• Willingness to work some evenings and weekends
• Valid drivers license and clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications:
• Passion for sustainability, affordable housing, the environment, or environmental justice, or just generally grounded in making the world a better place
• Experience in training and/or working with volunteers
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Sketchup or AutoCAD
• Bilingual English / Spanish is a plus
Office Location/travel:
GRID Alternatives Colorado office located in Denver. This position will be based in our Denver office but will require extensive travel throughout the State of Colorado as well as occasional out-of-town travel such as organization wide yearly staff summit regularly held on California. Availability to work nights and weekends maybe required. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use, but applicant must hold a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Compensation:
This is a full-time, exempt position. Compensation based on experience.
